Muong Hum located in Bat Xat district, about 50km far from Laocai.

To get there, we can go by special auto (the road is not good) or use a bike, using different road. For the best sightseeing with Sin Chai valley, mountain side, streams and terraced fields, we’d try out the more adventure way with a bike.

Muong Hum valley stands by mountain sides, standing out from the green color by a big, silver stream which is also named Muong Hum. Muong Hum market opens weekly on Sunday. The market is also the place for meeting, trading and culture exchanging of the ethnic minority groups lived in all eight nearby mountainous communes.

The kiosks were built by bamboo trees, divided into different area: for brocade, jewelry, eating…The people from different minority groups such as: Red Dzao, Mong, Ha Nhi, Day… bring colorful dresses to the market. Even if they are from the same minority group, they costume differently depend on their living location. We have great change to discover more about the daily life of the local people here. For the young fellows and ladies, the market is their meeting place. They come here for chatting, singing, dancing and looking for a good friend. For married man, they come here not only for trading but also for drinking wine with their friend, neighbors…
