Departure from Bangkok – Return to Bangkok

The River Kwai, in the Saiyok area of Kanchanaburi province, gained notoriety thanks to the eponymous film that narrated the imprisonment of the Allied soldiers condemned by the Japanese for the construction of a railway line, the so-called "death railway", which was supposed to connect Thailand and Burma. But beyond the historical episode, which evokes pain and suffering, the province of Kanchanaburi compensates for the sad memories of captivity with the infinite beauty of tropical nature along the historic Kwai river, wild animal species, museums of the second world war, hot springs and jungle activities, idyllic retreats for active leisure and romance.

Day 1 – (lunch included)

After breakfast, meeting with the guide and beginning of the tour. The first stop of the day will be at the famous Damnern Saduak Floating Market. On board a typical motor launch we will proceed along the exotic rural canals to reach the famous and picturesque market. Along the river the nice wooden boats form an intricate coming and going, where the sellers manage to extricate themselves easily to offer passers-by the products of local cuisine and craftsmanship.

Time available to visit the bustling market before continuing to the wild mountains of the Kwai river region, to reach Wat Tham Suea, the "Tiger Cave Temple", a spectacular and exotic temple complex on the top of a hill (reachable both by foot and by the comfortable funicular) where we can join the devout believers offering incense and lotus flowers, and admiring the beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. We visit the famous cave at the foot of the hill, then it’s only a short distance to reach Kanchanaburi, where we will have lunch on the banks of the river in the city’s best restaurant, with a magnificent view of the "Bridge over the Kwai River" and the first mountains that mark the natural border between Thailand and Burma.

This border was theatre of bloody conflicts during the Second World War. After lunch, we visit the famous bridge and the characteristic local city market. We then continue to the Burmese border along a steep mountain path that crosses the dense tropical forest, until we reach a fascinating eco-resort totally immersed in nature on the banks of the Kwai River: Home Phutoey Hot spring & Nature Resort (accommodation in a Deluxe room). Here the view is spectacular, with the jungle covered mountains that overlook the eco-resort and come to kiss the banks of the river, creating a particularly evocative and romantic setting.

The end of the afternoon is free for a swim in the resort's swimming pool, set at the foot of the lush mountains in a truly enchanting landscape with great atmosphere.

Day 2 – (Breakfast and Lunch included)

Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Departure towards the Sai Yok Yai National Park, which we will reach after about 25 minutes by car (driver only: the guide will accompany the participants who will opt for the exciting cruise by motorboat going up the river course immersed in the jungle). Meeting with the guide and beginning of visits to the National Park; boarding on a large private wooden raft and continuing with navigation on the river inside the National Park.

Lunch included on board the raft, which will be towed under one of the small waterfalls that flow into the Kwai River. Here we will also have the chance to have an exciting shower under the waterfall ... remember to bring your swimsuit!

After lunch transfer to Bangkok with arrival in the late afternoon / early evening.
